Help Rafael & his team continue Search & Rescue efforts for missing migrants.
For 30 years, Rafael Larraenza Hernández and Los Angeles del Desierto have rescued missing migrants along the frontier in California, Arizona, and Texas.
As you can imagine, this type of humanitarian aid is not easy nor inexpensive. Currently, there is a critical need to help Rafael and his team with the following:
Truck repair
Garmin InReach (+ annual subscription)
Medical kits
Water drop supplies
In September 2024, a coalition of volunteers led by Rafael Larraenza Hernández embarked on a Search and Rescue mission in the desert mountains near San Diego.
The coalition included volunteers from several aid groups:
Unfortunately, the young man the group was searching for, Samuel Villegas Perez, did not make it. In total, four migrants perished that week under scorching 100°+ weather.
Throughout this heartbreaking weekend, we saw Rafael’s unparalleled leadership in guiding the volunteers through tricky terrain, pushing back against Border Patrol agents intent on blocking access, and securing justice for several migrants who perished that weekend.
Now, we want to make sure Rafael and his team have the necessary supplies and funds he needs to continue the life-saving work they tirelessly provide week after week, in sweltering heat or rough desert terrain.
